Wellyfest is a family festival like no other, the perfect way to while away a few hours trying out new activities, listening to music and stories and watching artists on our main stage. Wellyfest aims to inspire through the arts and encourages creativity in people of all ages.

Following on from the successful formula of previous years the 2018 Wellyfest is bigger and even better than ever.
There’s more variety and the main stage is packed with different musicians, artists and a wonderful magician. Many of our performers have worked with well known television brands such as CBBC and Britain’s Got Talent and have performed at theatre venues across the North.

Not only is the Wellyfest located in Woolley, there is definitely a woolly theme this year because three of our artists are based around sheep. Shaun the Sheep needs no introduction, a fun character who is familiar to families and has his own TV show.

The Real Sheep Show is an informative show with dancing sheep, it must be seen to be believed!

Also present will be Joseph Theobald, author of the popular Marvin the Sheep series of books of children.

There are many more attractions and activities, CBBC’s Ben Shires, star presenter of “Officially Amazing” will be performing on our main stage and meeting and greeting people during the day. We also have plays, music workshops, dancers, magic and other performers on our stages.

The festival enables families to see performances in an intimate setting, meet the performers and have a go at a range of activities. Children will be able to discover new skills and hobbies and memories will be built that last a lifetime.

Wellyfest is a fun and affordable day out, five hours of fun and entertainment for the price of a one hour theatre show with much more flexibility. It’s the perfect way to introduce children to the arts and our combined Mhusika evening ticket means that a full eight hours of entertainment will provide that perfect festival feeling.

Mhusika is the perfect foil to Wellyfest with family evening entertainment to round off the day in style.  An early evening concert to take advantage of the warm summer days will feature four hugely entertaining groups and bands.

Our headline artists are a collective of performers who have all starred in musicals in London’s West End and will perform music from their hit shows including “The Lion King” and “Wicked”. They will be backed by Wakefield’s Rodillian Singers who will also perform some of their own material.

Nick Pacey and his Roustabout band will entertain the audience with their Elvis hits. Nick has performed Elvis’ hits at venues as diverse as Belvoir Castle and Canterbury Cathedral and following one of his concerts was complimented on the authenticity of his act by no other than Wayne Mann, Elvis’ cousin who lived with the star for five years.

The Hicksville Bombers will entertain the audience with their rockabilly style singing their own material alongside well-known classics.

Our Mhusika early evening concert is suitable for all ages again and with four acts for the price of one it is excellent value for families.

Our aim is to bring the highest quality of performer to a location which is within an hour’s drive of up to 4 million people. Despite this huge local population our audience is kept to a level which means that anyone who wishes to access an activity should have the time to do so. Our on-stage performances can be seen by all present, audience members will not need binoculars to catch a glimpse of the performers.

The Great Big Woolley Wellyfest and Mhusika are gentle but exciting events happening right here in Yorkshire. Why not explore your creative side and enjoy music, dance, story telling and performance in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. For many families this could be the start of a lifelong adventure and enjoyment of the arts.

We have a full eight hours of stage performances programmed for the whole day ticket, more workshops and have more activities than ever before, more artists and more fun!

This is the greatest value family festival in Yorkshire, other festivals do not compare.

It’s the only festival that puts the family first, other festivals contain family elements, but our entire ethos is about family fun.
