That Glorious Noise concert at Harewood House in aid of the Musc

All about events central

Events Central C.I.C. was set up in 2010 by a team of individuals who had  joined together to create some fantastic productions in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.  The ethos of the company is to create something spectacular that lasts long in the memory.

Our Story

In 2008 Gill and Richard Atkinson received the news that their son Austin had a rare form of muscular dystrophy.  Determined to do something positive for Austin and to help others they put together an evening of music in St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Wakefield featuring a Carribean Steel Band, a brass band , a female voice choir and a classical singing quartet.  The evening was a great success, not just because lots of funds were raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign but because the audience had a wonderful time and the feedback was inspirational.

In 2009 Gill and Richard met Linda Cressey, a vastly experienced event manager who was working as a fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.  They collaborated on a 50th anniversary celebration concert for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign in York Minster which was headlined by Katherine Jenkins.

Further concerts followed in 2009 with Faryl Smith in Durham Cathedral and Lee Mead in Lincoln Cathedral.  During 2010 a series of outdoor concerts, headlined by Russell Watson, were put together at Harewood House, Leeds; Meridian Park, Cleethorpes; Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire and Beaulieu, Hampshire.

By 2010 other bodies were making requests for event support so a limited company was created. In 2012, following well received concerts headlined by G4’s Jonathan Ansell in Wakefield Cathedral and Beverley Minster, the company status was switched from limited to “community interest company” to reflect the charitable ethos of the company.
